Did you know that North Carolina has the third lar-gest community college system in the country? Or that there are 52 accredited undergraduate colleges and universities in the state? These sites will help you find the school that's right for you as well as explore financial aid possibilities.
College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) - CFNC is a nonprofit partnership between Pathways of North Carolina, College Foundation, Inc., and the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. These groups have broad expertise in helping students prepare for college and find the best financial aid alternatives. They provide a compre-hensive source of information and real solutions for students and their families.
North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) - There are 58 community colleges in the N.C. system plus 28 multi-campuses and 74 off-campus sites serving all 100 counties! Through customized trainings, NCCCS has become integrally involved with businesses, industries, and local communities. This is a very impressive educa-tional system, and has grown in importance and necessity for many North Carolinians.
North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) - NCICU is the statewide organization of North Carolina's 36 non-profit, private colleges and universities accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). They include schools like Duke University, Wake Forest University, Salem College, and Warren Wilson College. There are links to all of the schools and information on financial aid programs.
University of North Carolina (16 campuses) - Chartered in 1789, UNC was the first public university in the United States. Today, UNC is a multi-campus university composed of all 16 of North Carolina's public institutions that grant baccalaureate degrees, as well as the NC School of Science and Mathematics, the nation's first public residential high school for gifted students.
