Academy of American Poets - This a national organization with a great list of North Carolina poets and resources for poets.
Authors ‘Round the South (ARTS) - This site has a great list of North Carolina as well as other southern writers. It also gives information on events and festivals. The site is sponsored by the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA).
North Carolina Arts Council - This state organization has a great database of writers and literary organizations as well as other resources. In the upper right corner of the page, search by artist or organization. Select "Literature".
North Carolina Bookwatch - Now in its 13th year, UNC-TV's Bookwatch is a must see if you're interested in learning more about various North Carolina writers and their latest works.
North Carolina Poetry Society - This has existed as an all-volunteer, membership organization for poets and friends of poetry since 1932. The Society meets regularly, sponsors programs and a festival, offers awards, and publishes a newsletter.
North Carolina Writer’s Network (NCWN) - NCWN is a multifaceted organization for writers. It is an advocacy group for literary arts and literacy, offers opportunities for professional growth, sponsors competitions and conferences, and provides resources and news for writers. This is also a great place for readers to learn about the writers.
State Library of North Carolina - The State Library, located in Raleigh, is a great place to look for books by N.C. writers, and about the state.
The North Carolina Collection (UNC-University Libraries ) - The N.C. Collection documents the history, literature and culture of North Carolina. It is a comprehensive collection that represents the diversity of the state and its people. The Collection encourages use of its holdings by the University community, citizens of North Carolina, and other researchers throughout the world. Visit their N.C. Guide to Fiction section.
Writers and Illustrators of North Carolina - This is a professional organization of creators of children's books.
