In 2008, there were 52,500 farms in North Carolina with an average of 164 acres per farm. Many N.C. fresh items can be purchased directly from the farmers or farmers markets. (N.C. Dept. of Agriculture)

Agriculture Guides and Directories - These guides & directories from the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide information on agri-tourism, herbs, seafood, farm & specialty foods, etc.
Agritourism - This site from the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services is for people interested in starting a N.C. agritourism farm, and those who want to visit these farms.
General Store - This is a great site from the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services to find N.C. agricultural products. It is a part of the "Goodness Grows in North Carolina" program. There are links to produce, organics, bakeshops, sauces, nurseries, seafood, and more.
HomegrownHandmade - This is a project of the North Carolina Arts Council and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Homegrown-Handmade fosters an alliance between N.C. arts and agriculture. It has organized a unique series of Agri-Cultural Trails from the foothills to the coast.
North Carolina Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services - If you are a grower or producer, this is the place to go if you want to learn more about North Carolina agricultural products and programs, statistics, and resources. North Carolina Farm Fresh - This site will help you find certified roadside farm markets, state-owned farmers markets, and retail nurseries and garden centers. This is program under the N.C. Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services.North Carolina Organic Products - Organic Consumers Association has a great list of organic and green businesses in North Carolina (and the U.S.) as well as other good information.
North Carolina Specialty Foods Catalog - If you want to go directly to the producers of many N.C. specialty foods, this catalog will wow you! It was assembled by the N.C. Specialty Foods Association.
